PARTICIPATE AND CREATE!

OUR FIRST YEAR IS A WRAP!

Maquoketa Elementary and Middle School students this summer had a scientific chance to participate and create fun! Innovate 120 in collaboration with a group of dedicated Middle and High School Science Educators held our first Summer Science Camp series. The program’s goal is to encourage students to embrace the importance of sciences, investigative spirit and mechanical thought processes.

The classes were conducted from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday during each session. Snacks were provided for the campers in addition to a camp t-shirt. The series was held at Innovate 120’s newly renovated campus downtown at 120 South Main Street on three different weeks of the summer.

The first session, Toys and Simple Machines is designed for Fall 2023 Incoming first and second graders and was led by high school science educator, Mr. Gavin.

The second session was hosted by middle school STEM educator, Mrs. Johannsen and is designed for Fall 2023 incoming third through fifth graders. That session covered Robotics.

The last session presented the topic of Forensics Sciences. This class, led by middle school science educator Mrs. Ruden, was offered to Fall 2023 Incoming Sixth, Seventh and Eighth graders.

All sessions had a reception after the closing Thursday class for sharing and celebration with the student's family and friends.
